This policy explains what personal information CricketsFinest.com (“we”, “us”) collects, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it. We keep it short and plain. If anything is unclear, contact us.
What we collect and why
Club listings
When you add or claim a club, we collect your name, email address, phone number (optional) and the club details you give us. We use this to check and publish the listing and to contact you about it. The club’s details are shown publicly. Your own email address is never shown on the site.
Some listings were added by us using information that clubs already publish on their own websites, league pages or social media. If you run one of those clubs and want the listing changed or removed, use “Claim or update this listing” on its page or contact us.
Enquiries to clubs
When you send an enquiry from a club’s page, we pass your name, email address, phone number (if given) and message to that club so they can reply to you. If we don’t have a contact address for the club yet, the message comes to us and we forward it.
Contact form
Messages sent through our contact form are emailed to us so we can reply. We keep them only as long as we need to deal with your message.
Accounts and the community forum
If you create an account, we store your username, email address and password (encrypted). Anything you post in the forum is public and shows your username. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.
Spam protection
To stop spam, forum posts and comments may be checked by Akismet, a service run by Automattic. Akismet receives the content and some technical information such as your IP address. See Automattic’s privacy policy.
Cookies
We only use the cookies the site needs to work. If you sign in, WordPress sets cookies to keep you signed in. If you leave a comment, your browser may save your name and email so you don’t have to type them again. We don’t use advertising cookies.
Third-party services
- Maps: club maps use OpenStreetMap map tiles, which your browser downloads directly from OpenStreetMap.
- Locations: we look up the map position of a club’s postcode using postcodes.io. Only the club’s postcode or town is sent, never your details.
- News: our news pages show headlines from other publishers. Clicking a headline takes you to their website, where their own privacy policy applies.
How long we keep information
We keep club listings while the club is listed, and account details until you ask us to delete your account. Contact and enquiry emails are kept only as long as we need them to deal with your message.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. To do this, contact us. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
